BATAO

Our bodies

Governance of our own.

BATAO is a non-profit organisation under Belgian law, with its registered office in Namur. It heads a network of film commissions: each territory has, or will have, its own operational structure.

The board of directors sets the direction and oversees its implementation. Terms run for three years, are renewable, and are held on a voluntary basis. The organisation is bound by two directors acting jointly, or by the managing director for day-to-day management.

Day-to-day management is entrusted to a managing director. For any act that would personally benefit a member, the co-signature of another director is mandatory and the party concerned abstains: transparency is written into the statutes.

The general assembly meets at least once a year. It approves the accounts, sets the broad direction, and appoints and removes directors.

A partners committee, currently being formed, will connect the organisation to territories and professional networks, in Belgium and internationally.

Each member serves in a personal capacity, and not on behalf of the organisation that employs them. This is the condition for independent, legible governance: it is clear who decides, what is done, and where the support received goes.
